Monica Hurdubei is a concert pianist, piano accompanist, as well as piano teacher at Collège Beaubois.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, she started her piano studies at the early age of 6, at the music college “George Enescu” in the Romanian capital. Her great talent was quickly noticed. At the age of 9 she won the First Prize at the international piano contest Oscar del Mare as well as the Ross Giovani Talenti medal at the Rovere d’Oro contest in San Bartolomeo, Italy, successes which confirmed her as a child prodigy. A year later, she won the First Prize and the Maryse Cheilan medal at the International Contest Maryse Cheilan in Paris, France. Two years later, Monica won the Grand Prix and the Clés d’Or trophy at the International Contest Les Cles d’Or du Piano in Paris, France. She has also won various national contests.

In 2002, at the age of 15, Monica Hurdubei arrived in Canada. After auditioning her, the public school Pierre Laporte immediately opened a place for her in the program of classical music, choosing her over other students who had been registered on a waiting list for several years. In 2004, while in school, she won the First Prize in the Inter-Student Contest Marie-Paul Prevost, after having obtained the highest mark ever given at a piano contest, that of 99%, at the school Vincent d’Indy. She was also awarded the First Prize and the Rose Godblott trophy in the Concerto Competition in the Montreal Classical Music Festival, the First Prize for solo performance at the Montreal Classical Music Festival and the First Prize for exceptional performances in the contests… For these reasons, at the age of 18, she was the only secondary school student to be admitted directly at University, without a college diploma. Monica pursued her studies in piano interpretation at Université de Montréal , where, in 2009, she received her Bachelor’s degree in interpretation and, in 2015, her Master’s degree in musical education.

Between 2010 and 2014 she performed concerts in solo performances or as an accompanist. Today she also teaches piano at Collège Beaubois. Currently she teaches piano at Collège Beaubois and, to her great pride and satisfaction, her teaching has enabled her students to stand out and earn prizes in various competitions.

Née à Bucarest, en Roumanie, elle débute ses études en piano a l’âge de 6 ans, au Collège de musique «George Enescu», Bucharest, Roumanie. Elle se fait vite remarquée par son grand talent. Elle gagne aussi le Premier Prix au Concours de concerto et le trophée Rose Godblott au Festival de Musique classique de Montréal, le Premier Prix au Concours de solistes au Festival de Musique classique de Montréal. À l’âge de 18 ans, elle est la seule étudiante d’une école secondaire à être admise directement à l’université, sans avoir fait des études collégiales. Monica poursuit ses études à l’Université de Montréal, où, en 2009, elle obtient son diplôme de baccalauréat en interprétation piano et, en 2015, elle obtient sa maîtrise en pédagogie musicale.

Entre 2010 et 2014, Monica Hurdubei a joué en solo et en tant qu’accompagnatrice des chanteurs. Présentement, elle est professeure de piano au Collège Beaubois et à son grand bonheur et fierté, son travail et l’éducation musicale offertes à ses élèves leur a permis de se distinguer et de gagner des prix à plusieurs concours.
